Selectman Shawn P. Murphy
Shawn is a 17 year resident who is astutely devoted to our community. He is currently a member of the Board of Education where he serves on the finance, facilities, and personnel committees. He is an active member and Treasurer of the Republican Town Committee, was a former member of the Public Safety Complex Committee, and also served as Chairman on the Board of Finance.
Shawn is a retired naval officer and is currently employed at Connecticut College. He has extensive financial, administrative, material, and project management experience that can be further utilized to maximize the effectiveness of our town government. He has earned a Bachelor of Science in Management, and is currently completing a Master of Public Administration degree.
In his spare time, Shawn enjoys attending various board and commission meetings to keep abreast of current issues affecting our town, to provide input, and to listen to citizens concerns. During summer weekends you can find Shawn, his wife Denise, and children out boating and floating on Wyassup Lake.
Town Clerk Norma J. Holliday
Norma has held the position of Town Clerk for six years. She has been instrumental in the modernization of the town records. She previously worked at the North Stonington Senior Center as Director as well as the Agent for the Elderly. She and her husband Steve live at Mains Crossing Road with their daughters Kaitlyn and Jeanette.
Norma is a member of the North Stonington Volunteer Fire Company and is an active member of the fair committee.
Town Treasurer Robin D. Roohr
Robin and her husband Matt have been residents for 24 years. They have 2 children, Matt Jr. and Amanda. She served three years as temporary Treasurer until she was elected to the job in November 2003. She has worked as Selectmen’s Secretary for 20 years, formerly served as treasurer of Little League and secretary for Recreation Commission and Republican Town Committee. When she isn’t working she enjoys travel, reading and cooking.
Board of Finance 6 year term Gary Herbert
Gary was born and raised in Griswold, CT, and holds an Electrical Engineering
degree from UCONN and a Masters degree in Communications and Computer
Systems Engineering from Webster University. He served for 21 years in the U.S. Air
Force in a variety of different assignments and commands worldwide. Since retiring from the Air Force as a commissioned officer Gary has worked as a Systems Engineer and a Systems Engineering Manager on several large communications network projects. Gary is committed to working with the Board of Finance members to develop balanced town budgets which meet the current and future needs of our Town and Schools while maintaining an affordable property tax base for the citizens of North Stonington.
Planning & Zoning Commission: 6-Year Term Joseph Siner
Joe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. He has been a member of the Economic Development Commission but is now using his extensive experience and background in building to help the North Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission construct better building regulations.Joe has been serving as an alternate member but is now seeking the regular member position.
Planning & Zoning Commission: 6-Year Term Louis Steinbrecher
Lou has been a resident for 21 years. He has been involved in planning for the town since the year 2000, serving on the Plan of Conservation and Development Committee, then as an alternate and a full member of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Lou has done volunteer work for the North Stonington Citizen’s Land Alliance performing water quality testing on Wyassup Lake, Spalding Pond and various tributaries of the Pawcatuck River as part of the Pawcatuck River Watershed Watch. He has also volunteered as a coach for the little league and soccer programs in town.
Lou has a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Engineering degrees. He currently works as an analyst performing planning and operations analysis for the Coast Guard.
Lou and his wife, Patti, have three children who attend Wheeler. They enjoy exploring the many natural open spaces in town including Wyassup Lake, Assekonk Swamp and the trails and pentways that abound in the state forest and other preserves open to the public
Planning & Zoning Alternate Ann Brown
Ann previously served on the North Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission from 1985 through 1991 of which five years were as Secretary. She has been the Zoning Enforcement Officer for the city of Norwich and for the town of Lebanon before that.
Ann holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin. She lives on Mystic Road with her husband George.
Board of Education 6-Year Term Crescentino Secchiaroli
Cres, his wife Lori, and two daughters, Zina and Ella, moved to North Stonington in 2000. One of the factors in this decision was the excellent educational opportunities that North Stonington provides.
Cres has a Bachelor of Arts in both Economics, and Government and Public Policy from Eastern CT State University. He will be receiving his Juris Doctorate from Roger Williams University School of Law this coming December. While earning his J.D., he has taken courses in Educational Law, Employment Law, and Alternative Dispute Resolution, all of which he feels would be beneficial on the Board of Education.
Cres has worked for the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Retardation since 1993, and feels that this experience would be beneficial in controlling the costs associated with the outsourcing of Special Education Services.
Cres served on the Waterford Republican Town Committee before moving to North Stonington, and hopes to join the North Stonington Republican Town Committee in the near future. He believes in having a civic responsibility, and is excited about serving on the Board of Education in a manner that will help continue its pursuit of excellence, while being mindful of the associated costs, and their effect on the local taxpayers.
Board of Education 6 - year term Eleanor B. Banker
Eleanor has served for two years on the BOE. She is a lifelong resident of North Stonington. She and her husband Milton (Red) run a small dairy farm. Eleanor retired in 2003 after dedicating 30 years as a consumer sciences Teacher at Wheeler High School.
From big People to “Little People,” Eleanor has educated hundreds of the town’s students, fellow teachers and parents alike since 1956.
After taking time off to raise her children and help run the family farm, Ellie, as she’s known around town, returned to the district full time in 1970.
She serves on the North Stonington Historical Society Board of Trustees. She currently serves as the liaison between the Society and the local students.
Zoning Board of Appeals 4 year term Robin Hall
Robin lives on Mill Village Pentway with her family and many pets!.
Robin is an enthusiastic Prudential Real Estate Agent living in North Stonington as an active member of her community. Robin is knowledgeable and passionate about her town, and has knowledge of Land use/planning and Zoning issues due to her employment with the Town which ended in March 2007 due to her growing Real Estate business. She is a member of the North Stonington Agricultural Fair Committee and a member of the Ram Island Yacht Club and spends much of her time boating with her family and friends.
Zoning Board of Appeals 4 year term Charlie R. Burger III
Charlie has lived on Pendleton Hill Road for the last 42 years.
He is a design engineer with Sea Corp in Groton and possesses an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Thames Valley State Technical College.
Charlie has been a member of the Grange for over 25 years and a member of the Republican Town Committee.
Charlie is the financial secretary and on the board of directors for the North Stonington Agricultural Fair.
He has been a committee member of Boy Scout troop 71 for 28 years, 26 years as treasurer.
Charlie served two years, as an alternate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and then six years as a full member,the last 3 year as chairman.
Zoning Board of Appeals Alt. Richard J. Bennardo
Richard has served for two years as ZBA Alt. gaining a better understanding of what the town needs. He currently serves on the Republican Town Committee. He would like your vote to continue serving as the ZBA Alt.
Zoning Board of Appeals Alt. Wayne M. Wilkinson
Wayne and his wife Pamela live on Stillman Road where he runs Wilkinson’s Machine Shop.
Wayne has been on many boards and commissions over the years. He served on the Board of Finance. After taking a little hiatus he is now serving as Zoning Board of Appeals Alt. Wayne also serves on the Republican Town Committee.
Economic Development Commission 6 year term Robert Kimball
Bob has been a resident of North Stonington for 22 years and resides on Old Colony Road.
Bob is a Real Estate Agent with William Raveis Real Estate and was named Realtor of the year. Bob began his full time real estate career in 1995 after retiring from the finance industry where he worked for 33 years.
Bob has served ten years on the Economic Development Commisssion and is currently the Treasurer.He is the First Vice President of the North Stonington Lions Club.
He believes good economic development is necessary for the future needs of North Stonington.
Board of Assessment Appeals 4-Year Term Kathleen Trammell
Kathleen has extensive financial and information technology experience and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Providence College.
Before relocating to North Stonington in 1996, she worked for 10 years as an Accountant with the Controller’s Group of Textron, Inc. in providence, RI.
She currently serves on the Board of Assessment Appeals and is seeking a third term.
She resides on Northwest Corner Road with her husband Jim and family.
